Your performance had so much magic, so much calm, so much 'slow down' that it gave me goosebumps.

Julian Bell, Australian theatre artist performing as Prof. Bubbles

I'm Julian Bell, an Australian theatre and performance artist based in Freiburg, Germany.

For more than twenty years I've created and performed visual theatre around the world, combining clown, physical theatre, comedy and visual storytelling.

Prof. Bubbles grew from a simple question: what happens when bubbles stop being a trick and become a theatrical language?

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about booking, staging and logistics.

Aren't bubbles mainly for children?

Many people initially associate bubbles with children's entertainment. In reality, I perform just as often at theatres, festivals, corporate events and galas. The bubbles are the medium rather than the subject. What interests me is what they make possible: wonder, humour, light and unexpected images.

Does the show work indoors and outdoors?

Both. Many people first imagine bubble shows outdoors but some of my favourite routines work especially well indoors. Together we can find the format that best suits your venue and event.

What types of events is Prof. Bubbles suitable for?

Different occasions call for different experiences. From elegant event acts and family shows to the full-length theatre production ALCHEMY, each format is designed for a specific audience and setting.

How long does a show last?

That depends on the format. Short acts from around 5 minutes are possible, as well as classic shows between 20 and 40 minutes or longer formats of up to around 60 minutes. For events, several shorter appearances spread across the day or evening are also possible.

Do I need to provide technical equipment?

For many events I bring the necessary technical equipment myself. For larger stage productions, we coordinate lighting, sound and space requirements together. You will receive all the information in good time so everything runs smoothly on site.

Will the floor get wet?

I work very carefully to protect floors and venues. The show is performed on exhibition carpet, and if needed on several layers or with additional protective foil for particularly sensitive floors. This keeps the bubble liquid contained within the performance area.
